The first snow storm rolls in silently as we sleep peacefully in our warm, comfy beds. As it unexpectedly tucks the town in with a fluffy white blanket colder than the air itself, we dream of when the first flake will fall and the ground is covered with the white, glimmering, shiny delicacy of frozen rain. snowmen, snow angels, snowball fights, snow forts, and all the hot cocoa a kid could bear!
My sister, Julia, wakes up first. “Will! Willy! Wake up! Look out the window! The first snow storm has come!”
She’s jumping up and down on my bed trying to get me up. I jump out of bed to look out the window and, sure enough, the first snow storm left behind its beautiful gift.
We run down the stairs and mom and dad are waiting at the front door with our snow suits. “Let’s all go sledding together!” I shout as my sister and I race to get our suits on. We always make it a race. First the pants, then boots, mittens, jacket, hat, then scarf, and we run out the door to the shed to get our snow tubes. She won this year but I’ll get her next time!
